How I teach

How am I doing it?

How do you build a house? From the foundation, not the chimney

In my teaching, I focus on the basic building blocks that make up an English sentence and which you cannot do without if you want to speak English fluently without grammatical errors. These building blocks are articles, verb tenses and prepositions (the backbone) and correctly pronounced words (the content). You progress from simple sentences to more complex ones, always with only one new phenomenon in the sentence you are learning.

Guided communication

Guided communication is communication that uses the entirety of what you have learnt, i.e. from the beginning, so that you continually activate and imprint it into your active memory. Guided communication is not letting you talk freely about anything for the whole lesson without having the necessary knowledge and vocabulary to do so, because you will inevitably make lots of mistakes and thus internalise them.

What you don't use, you forget. If you don't understand something properly by the time you learn it, you forget it all the sooner, and eventually you are no longer able to use it.

As one classic said, "Repetition is the mother of wisdom."

My teaching is based on the most important

To master and practice these basics until they are in your subconscious and you no longer have to think about them. Then I gradually, step by step, pack more and more on top of them so that you are able to absorb and apply them without difficulty. You start thinking in English.

How do you make your house last a lifetime without constant repairs?

You make a solid foundation, then straight walls, then partitions and finally a roof. You can't start from the chimney.
